Finally met a Riding Buddy
11/14/21 9:45 AM

Well, before I retired I regularly led a group ride pretty much all year round.
Had a good group of all proficient riders along with all of them being awesome
human beans. Since I retired and moved to the mountains, I've been solo. It seems
everyone up here rides a Hardly Ableson , virtually no sport type bikes. Finally,
in desperation, I made a post on our local Farcebook and up popped Andrew. He's very similar
to me. Used to lead rides in Florida. He's got a sweet SV1000 and we have just about the
same experience and temperament. He's been looking few riding partner for 3 years. I think
we're going to be best riding buddies.
On a sad note, since I moved up here, my former group has basically collapsed. Bummer.

What is a "human beans" .....

I understand looking for a riding buddy that has a similar riding style as yours. My comfy zone does not include corners, passing in corners, blind corners and oncoming traffic plus the street is not my personal racetrack. I pick and choose my spots to play and try to be as safe as I can.
I met Brian on the ZRX board and we are similar in riding styles even tho he can out do me in any way on a bike. If he decides to play he at least slows down in the straits for me to catch up. He also has no use for the hiway unless it is a must and I have never seen so much scenic USA as I have riding with him.

I got lucky

Today, me and my new wingman did a 150 mile loop. Outstanding roads and he knows all
of them. Some tight and bumpy, some fast and open. He's a very good rider, has great lines
and is a good leader. Weather was just about perfect. I'm watching a possible weepy
right fork seal and my front tire is just about shot.

Mad, from what I can see the SV has no chicken strips so as long as he likes a beer or two as well, your new mate looks like a keeper...
