Tank Slapper
03/24/13 7:54 PM

Well, today it was 4 deg. and I figured I would go for a spin with a riding buddy of mine. At one point we got a little rambunctious with the throttle and mid 3rd gear the front end got really light, then started a mini tank slap followed by the front wheel coming up, at which point I let off and smiled....
Now I'm thinking I may need a steering damper on this thing. I am contemplating the Hyperpro as I like the look over the the round design like scotts. I never thought this thing would pull up like that, it was quite thrilling actually... lol. I had a Ducati Monster S4RS that would come up on throttle in 3rd sometimes too, but not at the acceleration rate that the 14 does.

Yeah I'm surprised it didn't come with one with the kind of speed this thing puts on. But the new KTRC really helps keep the front down a lot! While it gets light in 3rd as soon as it starts up the KTRC puts it right back down. I really feel comfortable with using the power the bike has because it helps to keep me in check. My old Busa with less power would just stand straight up in 3rd sometimes and scare the shit outta me!

Damper is a good investment. I've had one on all three Ninjas...I like the peice of mind. As for the price...they are cheaper than a set of plastics(or worse) for sure. I wont own a bike without one.

I really like the gprv4 that I have on 14. The hyperpro contraption worked great on my 2003 zx12 & 2006 14. I like the compact size of the stem mount & NO O-Rings.

the 14 really loves the cold air, you twist the throttle and its like getting a free shot of NOS lol I Have the Hyerpro on mine and really love it. I had the GPR on my zx9 and it was also great but they have seals in them also , read the manual on your GPR its recommended you service it once a yr you send it to GPR with $25 and they change the seals in it and send it back to you. If your looking for the best price for a Hyperpro check out Motomummy.com

motomummy

looks like the price went up since I got mine but still better than anyone else's price.

Gentlemen, I am looking to invest in a steering damper also. Scott, got to ask, was it a pain to install? I have my eye on an olhins that looks like the set up you got, but it was like 7bones...): You're right though when compared to plastics and a fractured collar bone, it is cheap, cheap. ZX beast, mad love on the honesty, I took mine on the 404 on Tuesday and the power when throttled popped me up out of the seat. Then I remembered the bike I was riding and slowed down. It's crazy, it truly is the "King!"
