Hello everyone. Considering buying a 2013 zx14r off a co worker. He's a older guy buys new bikes every 1-2yrs. He does a lot of weekend rides so racks up the miles . He's offered me his 2013 zx14r at a good price but has 15k miles. Its had all maint. Done at the dealer . its bone stock . and has the extended warranty through Kawasaki till 2018. My concern is the 15k miles .. How many miles can these bikes get if taken care of ? I personally don't put many miles on so I'd be lucky to see 5k in the next 2yrs. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I've had 50k miles on a bike and it was still solid. 15k is nothing, if the price is decent, go for it. I'm thinking price-wise should be around 10-10.5k or so.

welcome. that's low considering you can get over 100k on an early model. Very bulletproof bike so I would not hez

It just depends on the previous owner IMHO. A bike that's been abused might be basket case at 5K miles while one that been well maintained and ridden sensibly might be like-new at 15K. The good thing is that you know the current owner. I assume he doesn't come to work Monday bragging about his 5 mile wheelie or how hard he pushed the limits with his ZX14.

Is the 2013 black with green accents a special edition model ? If so what makes it special edition just the color ?

I have one. It's just the color. Every panel is painted. Plus some graphics. The standard models have a few panels that are not painted, ie foreman grills and ram air covers.

Same here. My 2008 Special Edition is just painted "special" and has some different decals. I'm sure it cost a few $$$ more when new. As you know, special costs more than standard... ;-)

I have 54,000 miles, no problems. Go for it.

thats awesome. i just picked up a 13 also. guess the larger motors if cared for could last as long as some smaller 4cyl cars or is that stretching it? what about clutch, on say a 14 doing mostly touring how high have some seen?

there was an guy at Bikeland with an 06 that was getting close to 200,000 a couple years back. I t was run hard regularly and Still running as good as ever.

15 K is only just bed in.
Nothing to worry about..

I'm pretty sure my clutch is stock. I'm the 2nd owner.And, especially for touring, your clutch doesn't get used that much. Should last a long time.
