zx-14 VS 5'5"

I don't have a zx14, but I went to a dealer an fell in love with the 09 zx14 burt orange. The problem is I'm 5'5", I think its adjustable. I wanted to ask for your opinions on this issue before I think about test riding one

You can get lowering links if touching tippy toes is a concern. Will reduce your clearance under the bike but lots of drag have lowered bikes which they ride on the street. Careful riding up a sudden incline. or a big bump.

The bike is a good deal more managable at low speed after replacing the big heavy exhaust system.

if you can touch the balls of your feet, I'd say get it. Be warey of stopping where there is a dip in the pavement on one side. (if you don't know what I mean, you'll find out).

I'm only 5'5", too. I didn't lower my 14. The only time I have any trouble is backing up in grass. If I come to a light on a hill, just lean her into one leg and that works well.

What petdoc said, but you CAN lower it and even adjust your footpegs as suggested by Rook. These bikes, like most others, are quite adjustable. With the right amount of coin, you can get your bike exactly the way you want it.

Although it says Stillona12 ive actually had a new 14 for ten months. I am but 5'6 (and a half) and my ZX12 was a constant worry to find the floor. In 5 years I never dropped it once but sadly the 14 has hit the deck through my lack of height on adverse camber. At 5'5" and without being personal it does depend on your actual leg length as to whether you need to go for a lowering kit. My pal is 6'2" but his leg length (as in trouser leg) is only 32" and yet I am 29".
If you love the performance of a powerful bike, the reliability of a 747, the comfort etc.etc. go for the 14. After 40 years of bikes and owning/riding much of the stuff in the market at the time I would not trade my 14 for anything else.
The UK press recently ran a feature on an Afghan Hero with one leg amputated riding his Fireblade. If you want it enough you will do it my friend.

My daughter works for Kawasaki and gets to ride loan pool bikes home. She's 5'2. She just slides off the seat a little and puts one foot down. It's a style she has learned over the years. She currently owns an 08 ZX10. You'll love the 14, it's becomeing my favorite bike.

I'm 5'4" with a 30 inch inseam. I can toe both feet but I normally just do like onefastgeezer's daughter. No big deal once you get used to it.
