I have a 2015, 30th anniversary edition zx14r with ABS.
I found a 2016 engine on ebay, but i was sure if it was a simple plug and play swap?
Has anyone done a similiar swap, and have any advice?
Thanks

As far as I know, the 14R has been the same bike since 2012. Any Gen2 engine should work for any Gen2 ZX-14.
That's probably the same engine I was looking at! Good luck with it and seek further advice but I don't see a problem with a 2016 engine in a 2015 14R unless maybe there were some ECU updates or something like that. I kind of doubt it. I think they just left the 14R alone since the new Hayabusa punked out on topping it.

Correct me if I'm wrong:
1st Gen is 2006 to 2011 1320cc.
2nd Gen is 2012 to 2015 1441cc.
3rd Gen is 2016 to present 1441cc, ECU shrunk in size, as has the main wire harness connector end.
Yes, 2012 on up plugs in.

I know the engines are the same, there was just a couple threads on here that I found that talked about the gear drum end and the gear sensor plug being different. But If I interpreted them correctly, it looks like you can swap out the connector and it should work?
