Handlebar riser/conversion
11/03/21 6:39 PM

Hi all,

I was wondering what do you think about my conversion on the original handlebar setup for 2013 ZX14R. I have changed it using Apex Mfg adjustable handlebars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5srKZYaKYNA&t=38s to rise the height so it can better accomodate my lower back. Please do let me know if you have better idea or setup to make it higher/better.

Thanks!

Two months ago discovered a swear lower back pain that's why replaced my 2010 zx14 bar with an OEM bar that I have ordered from Viking Bags and for risers, their support suggested visiting Helibar. I'm pretty satisfied with both of them and now feeling much comfortable while ridding on out city tours.

I have raised the standard bars 2 inches by using two risers on each side. Purchased longer high tensile bolts, rotated the throttle cables so they go under the handlebars.

I can ride all day with this setup - no back ache no wrist pain. It’s great for touring and still good for the twisties.

Wow...2 inches is quite tall...do you have problems with the fairing and cables?

I did the 2-gen-mar spacers which equaled 2", but then I got Convertibars and gained 5" higher and 4" back. Everything clears the fairing and fuel tank. I've got a bad back and nearly broke my neck when I was 15 in a farming accident. I need all the help I can get.

I had rotate the throttle cables so they come out under the handlebar. Pretty easy to do.
I also had to grind the end of a fairing bolt on the top right to clear the brake master cylinder.

Great setup - good that you found something that enables you to keep riding.

Cheers
