hello All, I'm brand new to this site and Kawasaki. but not to bikes. that said let me get to my question. I have found 06 zx 14 brand new still in the box. and the price seems reasonable... but I have been told by most including my bud that rides a zx 14 09 that I should get a 09 or a 08, and not this 06. so what do you all think should I buy this 06? will this be a mistake? or go for the 08 or 09 yes this is the red one (THE LADY IN RED) thanks for any and all your help.

get the 06 and take the flies out and get a power commander and have more power everywhere.

You are going to have to buy that '06 for a steal. What are the 2 numbers on the bike$? What are those red things on your headlights? Your forks look out of line too. You could use a new bike looks like.

I am guessing you will be saving around 2k on the 06 with that thought in mind. I personally dont think that the 08 or 09 will give you anymore for your money. Honestly I don't think it is as easy to tap the cheap hp. Like Jeff said get the 06, pull the flies and get a PCIII and some new slipons and still have money to spare compared to a more expensive 08 or 09. The 08 and 09 bikes have more enviromental equipment that even if you put on after market slipons you will still have a cat left in the header pipe, so you will have to buy a more expensive complete exhaust system.

Its your choice, there is nothing wrong with the 08 and 09 bikes they are great machines. I just think the savings will benefit you more with the 06. How much are you looking to pay for the 06?

He will give me the bike for 9,963.0$ out the door. bike only 8,904$ thanks all for your input...I have spent most all day on here reading up on every thing I can... and so looks like come monday i will have this bike...

the red things on the headlights are required by the state of Arizona keeps the cagers from going off the road... and yes the forks are a bit out of line.. lol thats why come monday I'll have a new bike again thanks all for your input.

I picked up my 08 for just over $10,000 all in..... but have fun with ur Lady in Red, you'll love her!!! Welcome!!

Thanks hamr56 sadly the bike is in the shop now I only had it for a day or two and if not for this site I would never have found out that there was a Frame recall on the bike they sold me the bike with the recall not done i dont have much time for details right now but will later.... B

Hope it all turns out! I had mine inspected last year and its all good, so I hope yours is the same. I wished the dealer would have checked it out before they put it all together.

hamr56... turns out the bike had been insp. by kawi. before it came to the dealer for some reason they never documented it. cos when the mech. doing the inspection went to put the punch mark after the VIN# it was all ready there. so my bike was insp. twice this is a good thing dont you think??.....lol other than that i cant say enough about the bike love the power and the handling... if things work out maybe talking it to Rocky Point Mexico this week end.

Question: the fan on the bike seems to come about the 3rd block on the Temp gage. Is this normal? or does it need to be looked at by the dealer? Hope you all have a fun week end.

They run warm and like to make heat - sounds like mine.

My '09 often runs up to 3 bars when idling at lights etc & yes the fan comes on at 3 lights.
Me thinks the cooling system on these babes is a bit stretched.
Not looking forward to traffic on a 100 degree day.
Don't care, just love that bike!!!!!

That is pretty normal as far as the fan goes. The gauge always shows full bars when it gets hot, but I have yet to make her boil over. I am sure it is easier to do in AZ, you may look at doing a fan swap if it becomes a problem this summer.
